Sagar Chhetri Co-Founder and CEO, Saubhagya Group

How Saubhagya Group grew from one company into an ecosystem

How Sagar Chhetri grew Saubhagya Group from one IT startup into six ventures across marketing, construction, housing, media, hostels, and education.

The operating story behind connecting construction, creative, education, hospitality and media ventures under one group layer.

The Beginning: 101 InfoTech

It started in 2019 with a simple idea: help local businesses get online.

I was 19, still in college, running a one-person operation from my dorm room. No office. No team. Just me, a laptop, and unlimited ambition.

The company was called 101 InfoTech (now rebranded to Brand Bird).

Year 1: Learning the Hard Way

The first year was brutal. I:

  • Cold-called 500+ businesses
  • Got rejected more times than I can count
  • Worked 14-hour days for minimal pay
  • Almost gave up twice

But slowly, clients started coming. Word spread. Referrals grew.

By end of year 1, I had 5 retainer clients and enough to pay my rent.

Scaling WoM Marketing

In parallel, I was running WoM Marketing — a performance marketing agency. The two complemented each other perfectly.

WoM focused on paid advertising. 101 InfoTech handled web development and design.

Together, we could offer complete digital solutions.

The Expansion: 2021-2024

By 2021, I saw opportunities beyond digital services:

Saubhagya Ghar (Home Renovation)

Seeing demand from our digital clients, we launched a home renovation and interior design company.

Saubhagya Construction

Natural extension of Saubhagya Ghar — from renovation to full construction services.

Your Hostel 2.0

A modern hostel concept in Kathmandu. Hospitality diversification.

Nova Production

Media production to support all our marketing needs — and serve external clients.

SSIT Institute

Education arm — training the next generation of digital marketers.

Today: Saubhagya Group

All these entities now operate under Saubhagya Group, headquartered in New Baneshwor, Kathmandu.

The group now has:

  • A professional team working across its companies and functions
  • Operating companies alongside building, incubating and planned initiatives
  • Shared capability across leadership, technology, media and distribution

What I've Learned

Building a group of companies is fundamentally different from running one business:

  1. You need operators — You can't do everything yourself
  2. Cash management becomes complex — Different businesses have different cycles
  3. Culture must be intentional — Each company needs its own identity while sharing group values
  4. Patience is essential — Some businesses take years to mature

What's Next

We're just getting started. The goal isn't to be the biggest — it's to be the most trusted.

Every company under Saubhagya Group shares one mission: deliver exceptional value to customers.
