My Journey: From College Dorm to CEO
At 19, I started my first company — 101 InfoTech — from my college dorm room. No funding. No connections. Just a laptop and ambition.
Today, I help build Saubhagya Group, a multi-venture group with operating companies and emerging initiatives supported by a shared professional team.
Here are 7 lessons the journey taught me.
Lesson 1: Start Before You're Ready
I didn't know how to run a business when I started. I learned by doing. Most people wait for the "perfect moment" that never comes.
Action beats planning. Ship fast, learn faster.
Lesson 2: Cash Flow is King
Revenue is vanity. Profit is sanity. Cash flow is reality.
I almost went bankrupt twice because I focused on growth without watching cash. Now, I check cash flow weekly.
Lesson 3: Hire Slow, Fire Fast
Your first 10 hires will make or break your company. I made the mistake of hiring fast to fill seats. Some of those hires cost me lakhs in lost productivity and morale.
Take your time finding A-players. And when someone isn't working out, don't drag it on.
Lesson 4: Systems > Hustle
In year 1, I was working 16-hour days. I thought that's what "hustle" meant.
Wrong.
Real entrepreneurs build systems that work without them. If your business needs you for every decision, you don't have a business — you have a job.
Lesson 5: Your Network is Your Net Worth
Every major opportunity I've had came from relationships. Not cold emails. Not LinkedIn DMs. Real relationships built over time.
Invest in people. It pays dividends.
Lesson 6: Mental Health Matters
I ignored burnout for years. It caught up with me in 2023. I had to take a step back, delegate more, and actually take care of myself.
You can't pour from an empty cup. Protect your energy.
Lesson 7: The Game Never Ends
There's no "finish line." Every achievement unlocks a new challenge. That used to frustrate me. Now I see it as the beauty of entrepreneurship.
The journey is the destination.
